Patna: A team from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has made a mark on the global stage, showcasing their programming prowess at the 48th International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals. The trio, Aryaman Amitabh, Harshit Singh, and Mayank Kumar, competing under the name MEX Offenders, went head-to-head with 142 teams from around the globe in Astana, Kazakhstan, from September 15 to 20.
The ICPC is widely recognised as the most prestigious competitive programming contest for university students, with over 73,000 participants from 3,524 universities across 103 countries. Only 11 teams from India earned the opportunity to participate in the finals, competing alongside tech giants like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Oxford, and Cambridge.
Participation in the ICPC World Finals is highly regarded within the tech industry, providing competitors with the chance to engage with leaders from global technology companies.
Several IIT Patna faculty members expressed their pride in the team’s achievements, with the institute’s director, Prof. T N Singh, calling it a “proud moment for all of us.” He commended the students for their dedication and brilliance, which he said had inspired the entire IIT Patna community to strive for continued innovation and excellence.
