Patna: Senior officials from the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation (BSFDFC) convened with representatives of the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) to discuss the promotion and development of the film industry in Bihar.
The meeting included key figures such as Dayanidhan Pandey, Secretary of the Department of Art, Culture and Youth and Managing Director of BSFDFC; Rahul Kumar, General Manager of BSFDFC; Abhay Sinha, Chairman of IMPPA; and prominent industry personalities including Anil Sharma, Poonam Dhillon, Kamal Mukut, Mukesh Rishi, Tinu Desai, and Dhanpat Kothari.
During the meeting, Pandey shared insights into the Bihar Film Promotion Policy, officially announced in July 2024 and implemented in October. He emphasized the government’s dedication to establishing a film-friendly environment in the state and highlighted the rapid progress being made in this area.
Rahul Kumar noted that the new policy offers attractive subsidies to filmmakers and provisions to support cinema halls, enhancing Bihar’s entertainment infrastructure. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making Bihar a more appealing destination for film production and cinema exhibition, mentioning that the policy was developed based on feedback from IMPPA and other stakeholders, with openness to necessary adjustments for successful implementation.
Abhay Sinha expressed IMPPA’s full support for the initiative, committing to actively promote Bihar as a filming destination among its members and encourage them to utilize the available incentives. Ashok Pandit, President of the Indian Film & Television Directors Association (IFTDA), also welcomed the BSFDFC delegation, affirming IFTDA’s solidarity with IMPPA in the implementation of the Bihar Film Promotion Policy.
The meeting concluded positively, with both parties expressing strong commitment to the initiative. The Bihar government’s bold step to promote the film industry was recognized as a long-awaited decision following decades of industry requests. IMPPA assured that, with the support of the Bihar government, the state will emerge as a preferred shooting destination for producers across various languages.
