Patna: Ishan Kishan returned to Patna on Tuesday to an enthusiastic reception from fans and family after playing a key role in India national cricket team’s victory in the T20 World Cup.
Supporters gathered at the airport hoping to catch a glimpse of the star batter as he arrived in his home state. The cricketer was greeted with garlands by a family member, while the emotional homecoming also saw him affectionately greeting a child who had come to welcome him.
Speaking after his arrival, Kishan described the victory as a proud moment not only for the team but for the entire nation. “It feels great. Our Indian team has won, and it is a matter of pride for the whole country,” he said, adding that he hoped the team would continue delivering strong performances for the country.
The wicketkeeper-batsman also said he hopes his achievements can inspire young cricketers from Bihar and across India. According to Kishan, consistent performance and dedication can motivate aspiring players to pursue the sport seriously. “If I do well, it will motivate young people here who want to play cricket,” he said, urging youth to work hard and stay committed to their goals.
Kishan played a decisive role in the T20 World Cup final, scoring 54 runs from just 24 balls. His aggressive innings included four boundaries and four sixes, helping India set a strong platform before he was dismissed in the 16th over.
The 25-year-old also achieved a notable milestone during the tournament. In the semi-final against England cricket team, he became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batsman to score more than 250 runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup, surpassing his previous tally of 224 runs earlier in the competition.
Following India’s victory, a photograph of Kishan with his girlfriend, Aditi Hundia, circulated widely on social media, drawing attention from fans celebrating the team’s success.
