Patna: Political activity around the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections has intensified, with Jan Suraaj announcing five candidates for Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies.
The party has named SP Rai for the Darbhanga Teachers’ constituency, Ravindra Yadav for the Darbhanga Graduates’ constituency, Afaq Ahmed for the Saran Teachers’ constituency, Divya Jyoti for the Patna Teachers’ constituency and Rajnish Ranjan for the Kosi Graduates’ constituency.
The announcement comes as political parties prepare for elections to eight Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies of the Bihar Legislative Council.
Two Candidates From Darbhanga
Darbhanga has particular significance in Jan Suraaj’s list, with the party fielding candidates for both the Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies.
SP Rai has been named for the Darbhanga Teachers’ seat, while Ravindra Yadav will contest the Darbhanga Graduates’ constituency.
Candidates For Saran, Patna And Kosi
Afaq Ahmed has been named the Jan Suraaj candidate for the Saran Teachers’ constituency, while Divya Jyoti will contest the Patna Teachers’ constituency.
The party has also fielded Rajnish Ranjan from the Kosi Graduates’ constituency.
The Teachers’ and Graduates’ constituencies have specific electorates comprising registered teachers and graduates in the respective constituencies, making voter outreach and organisational activity important components of campaigning.
Campaign Activity Set To Intensify
With the announcement of five candidates, Jan Suraaj has formally entered the contest in these constituencies. The candidates are expected to begin preparations and outreach among registered voters in their respective areas.
The party had earlier indicated that it was preparing to contest the Legislative Council elections, with the eight seats comprising Teachers’ constituencies in Patna, Darbhanga, Saran and Tirhut, and Graduates’ constituencies in Patna, Darbhanga, Kosi and Tirhut.
The announcement adds another set of candidates to an election in which parties have already begun declaring their nominees. RJD, for instance, has announced candidates for six of the eight seats.
The campaign activity and electoral contest across the five constituencies will now develop further as candidates begin their outreach to the respective voter groups.
