Patna: In a significant political development, the Jan Suraaj Party announced former Member of Parliament from Purnia, Uday Singh, as its first National President during a press conference held today. Prashant Kishor, the strategist behind the Jan Suraaj campaign, stated that the party’s State Core Committee unanimously elected Singh, emphasizing that his appointment would bolster the campaign and alleviate some of his own responsibilities.

He highlighted that veteran leaders like Uday Singh and RCP Singh would now share the party’s operational burden, allowing him to embark on a 120-day “Bihar Badlaav Yatra” from Sitab Diara, the birthplace of socialist icon Jayaprakash Narayan, starting tomorrow.

Uday Singh, upon assuming his new role, acknowledged Jan Suraaj as a party of the people of Bihar, crediting Prashant Kishor’s “tireless efforts” over the past three years for establishing the party’s framework. He pledged to serve the party’s members with dedication and commitment.

The press conference also saw Prashant Kishor addressing the incident on Sunday, where he was denied entry into Kalyan Bigha, the native village of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He asserted that the police administration’s actions confirmed his long-standing claim of an “officer’s jungle raj” in Bihar. “Nitish Kumar is not running this government,” Kishore alleged, suggesting that “courtiers and officers” were undermining the state’s administration.

He argued that allowing his visit would have demonstrated the actual development in Kalyan Bigha, but the obstruction had ultimately harmed Nitish Kumar’s image. Several prominent party leaders, including State President Manoj Bharti, RCP Singh, and Legislative Council members, were present at the event.
