Patna: The Janata Dal (United) will begin its organizational elections across all levels following Makar Sankranti on January 14, party officials confirmed. The elections will be preceded by the appointment of in-charges at the headquarters to oversee the process.
The party’s ongoing membership drive, which targets the enrolment of one crore members, will continue until January 14. According to the JD(U), details of the number of members enrolled and their regional distribution will be released on January 15 and 16.
Speaking on the upcoming elections, JD(U) State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha said the process will start at the panchayat level, where the party already has an established presence. “Our organization has grown significantly, with workers active even at the booth level,” he noted.
Following panchayat-level elections, the party plans to conduct elections at the block, district, and finally, state levels, with officials from the headquarters overseeing each stage. The entire process is expected to be completed within two months.
Once the elections conclude, a conference of newly elected office-bearers will be convened. Participants will be briefed on government initiatives under the “Seven Resolves-3” programme and tasked with communicating these initiatives to households at their respective levels.
