New Delhi/Patna: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of Justice Vipul Manubhai Pancholi as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. Justice Pancholi, who was transferred from Gujarat High Court to Patna in July 2023, is set to assume the top judicial position once the central government issues the formal notification.

In a series of recommendations made on May 26, the Collegium also proposed the appointment of Justice Ashutosh Kumar, currently serving in the Patna High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court.

Additionally, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan of the Himachal Pradesh High Court has been recommended to take over as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

Other appointments include Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva from the Madhya Pradesh High Court, proposed for the role of Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, and Justice Vibhu Bakhru from the Delhi High Court, recommended as Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.

The current Chief Justices of the Karnataka and Guwahati High Courts, Justice NV Anjaria and Justice Vijay Bishnoi, have been put forward for elevation to the Supreme Court.
