Kashmir Singh arrested in Motihari

Motihari: In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested a Khalistani terrorist, Kashmir Singh alias Balbir Singh, who carried a reward of ₹10 lakh. The arrest took place in Motihari, East Champaran, based on intelligence inputs received by the agency.

Acting swiftly on a tip-off, a team led by Sadar ASP Shivam Dhakad, under the direction of Motihari SP Swarn Prabhat, conducted a raid in the Nagar police station area and apprehended the fugitive. Several suspicious documents and items were recovered during the operation, police said.

SP Swarn Prabhat stated, “Posters had been circulated offering a reward for his capture. Locals tipped us off that he was planning to flee to Nepal. We acted in time and nabbed him.”

Kashmir Singh was wanted in multiple terrorism-related cases and is also believed to be the mastermind of the 2016 Nabha jail break in Punjab, in which several dangerous prisoners escaped. A special team has been constituted to probe his local contacts and the purpose of his stay in Bihar.
