Patna: Khan Sir’s popular coaching centre in Patna was found locked today following an inspection by Sadar SDM on Tuesday. Despite the closure, the guard at the centre was unaware of the situation. The coaching centre, located near Boring Road intersection, has the same entry and exit gates, which do not meet safety standards.

In response to the tragic death of three students at a coaching centre library in Delhi, Patna’s district administration, led by the DM, formed a team to inspect coaching centres in the city. On Tuesday, several coaching centres, including Khan Sir’s, were inspected. The investigation into Patna’s coaching centres is ongoing.

Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh held a meeting with coaching operators, stressing the need for registration within a month. He stated that coaching centres must comply with safety standards, including proper fire safety measures and adequate seating arrangements. Overcrowded classrooms were identified during the inspections. Coaching centres must have separate entry and exit gates and are prohibited from conducting classes in basements. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in legal action.

The meeting, which lasted about an hour, was attended by over 50 operators, including prominent figures like Guru Rehman, SK Jha, and Roshan Sir. Khan Sir was notably absent, with his manager attending in his place.

Following the Delhi incident, SDM Shrikant Kundlik Khandekar and his team inspected multiple coaching institutes in Patna, including Khan Sir’s GS Research Center. Initially, Khan Sir’s staff attempted to delay the SDM by showing him around the building without revealing the classrooms. Khan Sir eventually met with the SDM.

During the visit, Khan Sir appeared uneasy with the presence of the SDM and media. He requested that the media leave his room before discussing the inspection further. The SDM later informed the media that Khan Sir had requested time to submit the necessary documents for the coaching centre.

The inspections revealed that many coaching centres in Patna are overcrowded and lack proper registration. Numerous institutes do not have fire safety systems or the required fire NOC.

The recent flooding at Rau’s IAS Coaching Centre in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi, resulted in the death of three students. Heavy rain caused the basement to flood, and a power cut jammed the biometric gate, trapping the students inside. The basement quickly filled with 10-12 feet of water. The fire department had not approved the use of the basement as a library.
