Patna: King Sejong Institute Patna, in collaboration with the King Sejong Institute Foundation and South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organised a Sejong Culture Academy event at Patna Women’s College on Friday, September 11.
The session, titled ‘Experiencing Korean Food: Bibimbap’, was held at the college’s Home Science Department and focused on introducing students to Korean food and culture.
Students Learn To Prepare Bibimbap
More than 50 students from different departments attended the programme and prepared bibimbap under the supervision of Chef Jong-hyuk Kim, who works as the head chef for the Prime Minister’s Office in South Korea.
Kim led the practical session, while Ms Hyoran Park, manager of the programme, oversaw the logistics.
Annual Cultural Initiative
The Sejong Culture Academy is an annual initiative of the King Sejong Institute Foundation aimed at familiarising students with Korean culture.
The programme covers areas including Korean food, vocal arts, Hanbok, K-Beauty, literature, traditional instruments, martial arts, Samul-Nori, K-Pop, Korean calligraphy, K-Movies and dramas, and traditional arts.
South Korean cultural experts visit King Sejong Institutes as part of the initiative and guide students through different aspects of Korean culture.
Coordination At The College
Prof. Dr Alok John, Dean of National, International Collaborations and Consultancy Services, and Prof. Dr Shazia Husain, Head of the Home Science Department, coordinated the event at Patna Women’s College.
Ms Grace Lee, Head of Operations at King Sejong Institute Patna, provided interpretation for the attendees during the programme.
