Labour Department Hosts job fair connecting thousands with private sector opportunities
Patna: The Additional Regional Employment Office-cum-Model Career Centre in Patna, under the Department of Labour Resources, successfully organised a one-day employment and vocational guidance fair on Tuesday. The event aimed to facilitate employment opportunities for jobseekers in the private sector.
The fair was inaugurated by Santosh Kumar, Bihar’s labour resources minister, who highlighted the state government’s commitment to tackling unemployment by organising job fairs across all districts. “Thousands of candidates are securing jobs through these fairs,” Kumar said, announcing plans for a larger employment fair in February 2025.
Sanjeev Chaurasia, the MLA for Digha constituency, also attended the event alongside Priyanka Kumari, deputy director (planning) headquarters, and Shyam Prakash Shukla, deputy director (planning) Patna division, along with other officials.
At the fair, 26 candidates received on-the-spot appointment letters, while 15 certificates were distributed under the Skilled Youth Programme. A total of 44 private sector employers, from industries such as automobile, insurance, hospitality, sales, and marketing, participated with over 2,000 vacancies available for candidates.
The fair saw a strong turnout, with 4,689 attendees, 3,756 resumes collected, 724 candidates shortlisted or selected for roles, and six government stalls providing vocational guidance to 657 candidates.
The event was overseen by Noor Ahsan and Ankit Raj, assistant directors (planning), alongside employment officers and staff from the Lower Regional Employment Office.
