Lady Shri Ram College Hosts Crossword Contest Celebrating Puzzle-Solving Excellence

New Delhi: Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College hosted a crossword contest in collaboration with Extra-C, an organisation dedicated to fostering a crossword culture in India. The event brought together students, academics, and crossword enthusiasts for a day of intellectual engagement.

A key highlight of the event was a workshop on cryptic crosswords led by Vinayak Ekbote, Vice President of the Crossword Association of Delhi. Known for his expertise in the field, Ekbote introduced participants to advanced solving techniques and strategies, making the session both educational and engaging.

Following the workshop, the contest saw students put their problem-solving skills to the test in a keenly contested battle of wits. The winners were:

  • First prize: Sameeksha Sharma
  • Second prize: Anshika Chhokei
  • Third prize: Samriddhi Sharma

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Vivek Singh, Chief Mentor of Extra-C and Chairman of RERA Bihar; Amrit Lugun, former Ambassador to Greece; Suman Sharma, Principal of LSR College; and faculty members Dr Tripti Bassi and Dr Junaki Ghosh. Also present were Dr Ritu Sapra, professor at Delhi University, along with Unsa Siddiqui, Director of Corporate Relations at Extra-C.

The competition was part of Extra-C’s broader initiative to promote crossword-solving as a tool for cognitive development, encouraging students to sharpen their analytical and linguistic abilities.
