Patna : Female students at Patna University have outperformed their male counterparts in the 2024 postgraduate examinations, securing the top position in 25 out of 40 subjects. The university confirmed that all subject toppers will be awarded gold medals during its convocation ceremony, scheduled to take place later this month.
Among the standout performers is Garima Yadav, who topped in Commerce, while Dinesh Jaiswal secured first place in the MBA programme. Other notable toppers include Rishikesh in Law and Kanishka Awasthi in Education.
In the humanities, Santosh Kumar led in Hindi, Prachi Pankaj in English, Ritu Kashyap in Sanskrit, Avinash Kumar Mandal in Maithili, Phulta Barman in Bengali, Mohammad Kabatullah in Arabic, Mohammad Irfan in Urdu, Bushra Imam in Philosophy, Vandana Kumari in Music, and Princemita Ray in Journalism.
Science subjects also saw strong performances, with Amisha topping Physics, Kumari Nisha leading Chemistry, and Shivani Rani excelling in Zoology. Other science toppers include Shatakshi Prakhar (Botany), Rahul Kumar (Geology), Hrithik Kumar (Mathematics), Pratyush Priyadarshi (Statistics), Priya Ranjan (Biochemistry), Ravi Yadav (Biotechnology), Mrinal Raj (Environmental Science), and Saloni Kumari, who topped the MCA programme.
In the social sciences, Kajal Kumari led in History, Ayush Ranjan in Political Science, and Anita Kumari in Home Science. Further achievements were noted with Sushmita Bharadwaj topping Ancient Indian History and Archaeology, Sadaf Neshar in Sociology, and Shilpi Kumari in Economics. Pragya Shri led in Geography, while Mohammad Amjad Alam topped Rural Studies, Neelam Kumari in Social Work, Fatima Naz in Women’s Studies, and Sandeep Kumar in Library and Information Science.
The Psychology department saw a rare joint victory, with Priya Thakur and Anjali Chaudhary sharing the top spot.
The university’s convocation later this month will celebrate the academic achievements of these students, reflecting what officials described as “an inspiring surge of female academic excellence” at one of Bihar’s oldest universities.
