Patna: Union Minister Lalan Singh has thrown his weight behind Anant Singh, the jailed Janata Dal (United) candidate from Mokama, insisting that the strongman was “framed” in connection with a recent murder case.
Anant Singh, who is currently in Beur jail, faces charges over the killing of Dularchand Yadav in Mokama Tal on October 30. A first information report (FIR) names five people, including Singh. He was arrested from his residence by Patna police on November 1.
On Monday, Lalan Singh took charge of Anant Singh’s election campaign, touring the constituency and meeting voters in a 30-kilometre roadshow from Pandarak to Mokama. Speaking to supporters, he said: “Now we have taken charge of the campaign; Anant Singh was framed.”

He added that the alleged incident “did not happen spontaneously” and pointed to several videos suggesting a conspiracy. “The police will conduct a thorough investigation. I urge them to expose everyone involved,” Lalan Singh said.
In his address, he also endorsed the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the elections, stating: “Modi and Nitish are hailed in Bihar. The NDA government will be formed again across the state. We are all contesting under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.”
