Lalu Prasad Accuses UP Government of Hiding Death Toll in Prayagraj Mahakumbh Tragedy
Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad has accused the Uttar Pradesh government of concealing the actual number of deaths in the recent tragedy at the Prayagraj Mahakumbh. He claimed that a large number of devotees, including many from Bihar, had lost their lives in a stampede. “Such officials and rulers should at least fear God,” he said.
Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, also took aim at the law and order situation in the state, highlighting a recent attack on a Member of Parliament. “The morale of criminals in Bihar is so high that even an MP has been attacked and injured. Now, even such incidents have become normal,” he said, adding that crime was being assessed based on the social background of the accused.
Meanwhile, RJD state general secretary Bhai Arun Kumar, Ganesh Yadav, and state secretary Manoj Yadav echoed Lalu Prasad’s concerns over the Mahakumbh tragedy, alleging that the government and administration were suppressing the actual death toll. “Eyewitness accounts suggest that hundreds of lives may have been lost,” they stated.
