Patna: The Bihar government has directed officials to expedite the land acquisition process for 21 proposed rail overbridges in Purnia, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj, with the concerned authorities asked to complete the proceedings within one week.
Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal issued the direction during a meeting on Monday to review the status of land required for the projects.
Railway, Revenue Officials Review Land Status
Officials from the Railway and Revenue departments provided updates on the availability of land and the progress of acquisition proceedings for the 21 proposed rail overbridges.
Senior officials from Northeast Frontier Railway and the Katihar Railway Division attended the meeting. The Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Engineer of NF Railway were also present.
Land Acquisition Director Kamlesh Kumar Singh and the District Land Acquisition Officers of Purnia, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj also participated in the review.
One-Week Deadline For Formalities
Jaiswal directed the respective District Land Acquisition Officers to complete the necessary land-related proceedings within one week.
He emphasised that there should be no unnecessary delay in acquiring land required for the railway projects and instructed district officials to maintain close coordination with railway authorities.
The minister said the remaining formalities should be completed within the stipulated timeframe so that work on the proposed rail overbridges does not remain stalled because of land-related issues.
Focus On Four Districts
The meeting specifically reviewed the progress of land acquisition in Purnia, Katihar, Araria and Kishanganj.
The concerned district officials and railway authorities will now work together to complete the remaining land-related procedures and facilitate further progress on the 21 projects.
The government’s objective is to ensure that land acquisition does not become a bottleneck in the implementation of the proposed rail overbridges.
