Purnia: The groundwork for the proposed Greenfield Expressway connecting Purnia to Patna is progressing steadily, with local authorities accelerating preparations for land acquisition. The expressway, a major infrastructure project in Bihar, will span around 60 km within Purnia district and pass through six administrative blocks.
On Thursday, District Magistrate Anshul Kumar chaired a review meeting with key officials including the Sub-Registrar of Purnia, the District Land Acquisition Officer, and the Executive Engineer of Path Nirman. He urged all departments to finalise documentation and verify land records to ensure timely acquisition and construction.
The first phase of the Patna-Purnia Expressway project is already underway, with efforts focused on matching entries in Khesra registers under ‘Three Capital A’—a land verification protocol. The expressway is set to traverse 36 mauzas across six blocks: Dagarua, Bikothi, Dhamdaha, Kenagar, Kasba, and Purnia East.
According to district officials, approximately 543 hectares of land—across 2,740 Khasras—will be acquired for the project. The expressway will originate in Barsauni village of Dagarua block, exit Purnia through Bikothi, and continue into Madhepura district before eventually reaching Vidupur in Vaishali.
The DM instructed zonal officers to carry out detailed surveys along the proposed alignment and verify plot-level data. He also directed that jamabandi records be updated to reflect the current ownership of the land earmarked for acquisition. Sub-Registrar officials were told to keep the Minimum Value Register (MVR) aligned with real-time land values.
Highlighting the importance of the project, Anshul Kumar also called for swift action on infrastructure works announced by the Chief Minister during the recent Pragati Yatra. “All necessary preparations must be completed in a time-bound manner,” he said.
