Patna: The Lions Club of Patna, in collaboration with Kumar Eye Centre, organised a free eye screening camp for schoolchildren at Tender Hearts School in Patna on October 12.
The camp aimed to promote eye health and facilitate the early detection of vision-related problems among students. A team of ophthalmologists and optometrists from Kumar Eye Centre, under the guidance of Dr Siddharth Kumar, conducted comprehensive eye examinations for around 200 students.
Children diagnosed with refractive errors and other eye ailments were provided with medical advice and guidance for further treatment.
Doctor Flags Risks Of Excessive Screen Time
“Excessive screen time can contribute to digital eye strain, eye fatigue and discomfort among children. Prolonged use of mobile phones, tablets and computers may also affect their visual habits. Parents should encourage regular breaks, limit recreational screen time and ensure children spend adequate time outdoors,” said Dr Siddharth Kumar.
Members of the Lions Club of Patna said the organisation remained committed to community service through healthcare initiatives. They emphasised that clear vision was essential for effective learning and the overall development of children.
The initiative sought to improve awareness of eye health among students and help identify conditions that could affect their learning and daily activities.

School Management Appreciates Initiative
The principal and management of Tender Hearts School appreciated the efforts of the Lions Club of Patna and Kumar Eye Centre in organising the camp and providing eye care services to students on the school premises.
The camp concluded with participation from students, teachers and volunteers.
