Lovers Found Hanging in Bhagalpur Hotel, Suicide Note Reveals Family Opposition

Bhagalpur: The bodies of Roshan Bharti (23) and Sakshi Kumari (21) were found hanging in the servant quarter of MS Hotel in Bhagalpur, shocking the local community. A suicide note recovered from the scene read, “If we could not live together, we should die together.” Police suspect the couple took their own lives due to family opposition to their relationship.
Roshan, a resident of Kahalgaon, had been working in the hotel’s catering service for five years, while Sakshi, from Godda district in Jharkhand, was a student. The two had been in a relationship for five years and wished to marry, but their families did not approve. Concerned friends discovered the tragedy when Roshan did not report for work, and the door to his room was found locked from the inside. Police arrived at the scene and forced the door open, revealing the couple hanging.
Hotel manager Ajmal stated that Roshan had been living in the servant lodge along with two other staff members, Captain Rajesh and sweeper Pappu. Rajesh had left for home two days earlier, leaving Roshan alone. Upon noticing his absence, a staff member was sent to check on him, leading to the grim discovery.
Bhagalpur SSP Hriday Kant confirmed the recovery of the suicide note, which detailed the couple’s despair over their families’ refusal to let them be together. “The case appears to be suicide, but a thorough investigation is underway,” he stated. Meanwhile, a crowd gathered outside the hotel as word of the tragedy spread, highlighting the devastating consequences of family-imposed restrictions on love and marriage.
