Muzaffarpur/ Patna: A passenger from Muzaffarpur has sent a legal notice to Indian Railways, accusing it of negligence after being unable to board his train to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh. Advocate Rajan Jha has demanded Rs 50 lakh in compensation, claiming religious and financial losses.
Jha, who had booked an AC two-tier ticket for his journey on January 27, was supposed to travel to Prayagraj with his in-laws to take a holy dip on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. However, upon reaching the station, he found that the train’s door was locked from the inside. Despite repeated attempts, he was unable to board, and railway officials reportedly failed to assist him.
Upset by missing the religious event, Jha has served a legal notice to the Chairman of Indian Railways through human rights advocate S.K. Jha. He has given the authorities 15 days to compensate him, warning that he will take legal action if his demand is not met.
