Patna: Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, the first hospital under the Mahavir Mandir Trust in Patna, has announced the launch of weight reduction therapy, alongside new services for pain management and skincare. Located on Kankarbagh Main Road, the hospital’s physiotherapy department is now equipped with a Body Mass Index (BMI) machine, allowing patients to calculate their body fat levels based on height, age, and weight.

To combat rising obesity rates, exacerbated by modern fast-food culture, the hospital has introduced a 20-session weight reduction therapy programme, which can be completed within a month. Dr Rajeev Ranjan Prasad, the hospital’s executive director, explained that computerized body shaping machines and weighing scales have been installed to aid the therapy. “Obesity is becoming increasingly common, and this initiative is designed to address this growing health concern,” he said.

In addition to weight loss services, Mahavir Arogya Sansthan has launched hydrocollateral therapy for pain management, complementing existing facilities such as ultrasound therapy, shortwave diathermy, and computerized traction. These treatments, Dr Prasad confirmed, are being offered at significantly lower rates compared with private hospitals.

The hospital has also expanded its dermatology department, introducing laser therapy to treat facial scars and botox therapy to reduce wrinkles. According to Dr Prasad, these new offerings cater to individuals seeking affordable, state-of-the-art solutions for age-related and cosmetic skin concerns.

Professor Rasbihari Singh, executive chairman of the Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, emphasized the institution’s commitment to making advanced healthcare accessible to the public. “By offering cutting-edge medical facilities at subsidised rates, we aim to bring modern healthcare within reach of the common man,” he said.

The hospital’s focus on affordability and innovation is part of a broader mission to deliver high-quality medical care without the prohibitive costs often associated with private healthcare.
