Patna: Mahavir Mandir is resplendent with decorations for Mahashivratri. The temple’s three Shivlingas and Shivalayas have been adorned with flowers, and the temple’s domes are illuminated with colorful lights, creating a festive atmosphere.
Temple Superintendent K Sudhakaran stated that the elaborate decorations are a long-standing tradition for Mahashivratri. A significant highlight of the celebrations is the Rudrabhishekam, with 46 scheduled to be performed across the three Shivlingas.
The glass-enclosed Shivlinga on the upper floor will host 17 Rudrabhishek between 5 am and 10 pm, divided into 17 slots. Simultaneously, 17 devotees and their families will perform Rudrabhishek on the ancient Shivlinga on the ground floor. The Shivlinga near the main sanctum sanctorum will see 12 Rudrabhishek from 10 am to 10 pm, also divided into slots. From 5 am to 10 am, this Shivlinga will be open for Jalabhishek by general devotees without prior booking.
Sudhakaran explained that the temple provides all necessary worship materials and priests for those who have booked a Rudrabhishek. Bookings open 60 days prior to Mahashivratri. The temple priests will conduct the Rudrabhishek on all three Shivlingas.
In addition to the religious ceremonies, a grand Satyanarayan Katha will be organized by 10 devotees, with the temple providing the necessary materials and a priest for the occasion.
