Man Dies by Suicide After Failing Police Exam, Cites Family Pressure in Note

Nalanda / Patna : A 23-year-old man from Bihar’s Nalanda district has died by suicide, leaving behind a note detailing the pressures he faced, including unemployment and family expectations.

Tragic Incident in Nalanda

Vipin Kumar, a resident of Islampur, was found dead in his room on Wednesday morning. According to his family, he had not emerged from his room, prompting his sister to knock on his door. When he did not respond, his brother, Naveen Kumar, forced the door open and found him hanging.

His hands and legs were tied, and a suicide note was recovered from the scene. Kumar had been preparing for competitive exams and had reportedly struggled after failing a police recruitment test.

Suicide Note Reveals Distress

In his note, Kumar apologised to his parents, writing:

“If possible, please forgive me. The step I have taken is not forgivable, but I am helpless. At an age when I should have been supporting my parents, I have become a burden to them.”

He cited multiple reasons for his decision, including:

  • Unemployment
  • Feeling like a burden on his family
  • Family pressure to get married
  • He also requested authorities not to question or harass his family following his death.

Investigation Underway

Police are treating the case with caution. Islampur police station head, Anil Kumar Pandey, confirmed that the forensic team has seized Kumar’s phone, which contained a live video of his final moments, though he reportedly did not speak in the recording.

“No formal complaint has been filed by the family yet. The cause of death will be confirmed after the postmortem report,” said Pandey.
