Patna: Bihar’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister and former Education Minister, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, has accused opposition leaders of attempting to claim credit for the state’s ongoing recruitment campaign, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Speaking at a press conference at the JD(U) office, Choudhary said that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and other opposition parties are “restless” over the success of the recruitment efforts but lack the courage to outright deny the achievements.
“The entire state is aware that the decision to appoint headmasters through the Public Service Commission and the issuance of the necessary rules were made back in August 2021,” Choudhary said. “These decisions were taken in consultation with the Chief Minister when I was serving as Education Minister.”
Choudhary explained that the process to appoint 6,421 headmasters was set in motion immediately after the notification in 2021, with advertisements for the roles published and the results announced in early August, 2024.
In response to recent claims from opposition leaders, Choudhary dismissed their efforts as “ridiculous,” pointing out that the Mahagathbandhan government had only been formed in August 2022—more than a year after the decision on headmaster appointments was made.
“The opposition cannot deny the achievements of the Nitish Kumar government, and since they have no accomplishments of their own to highlight, they are resorting to such negative and restless behaviour,” he said.
