Mokama/Patna:A firing incident was reported in Mokama area after an alleged dispute over a social media post escalated into violence, police officials said.
Mukesh Kumar, identified locally as the husband of a sarpanch and a supporter of MLA Anant Singh, alleged that members of the Sonu-Monu gang opened fire on him in Nauranga Jalalpur village under Panchmahala police station limits. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police said the accused fled the spot and raids are continuing to locate them.
Dispute allegedly began over Social Media post
According to Mukesh Kumar, the dispute began after he shared a Facebook post on May 22 praising the local police and station house officer.
He alleged that Pramod Singh, father of Sonu and Monu, objected to the post and asked him to remove it. Kumar claimed he refused, stating that the post did not mention any individual and was only intended to appreciate the work of the police and panchayat administration.
An argument reportedly followed, after which Sonu, Monu and several others allegedly reached the spot and opened fire.
Police reached spot after complaint
Mukesh Kumar said he was travelling with another villager for panchayat-related work when he encountered Pramod Singh and the dispute escalated.
He said he immediately informed the local police after the firing. Police personnel reached the location soon after, following which the accused allegedly escaped.
