Patna: The monsoon continues to bring much-needed respite to Bihar, with rainfall and thunderstorms reported across several regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Patna Centre has predicted intermittent rainfall over the next 24 hours in Patna and surrounding areas, along with a warning of thunderstorms in various parts of the state over the next six days.
An orange alert has been issued for extremely heavy rainfall in East Champaran, West Champaran, Kishanganj, and Araria, while a yellow alert is in place for Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Madhubani, and Supaul, warning of heavy downpours.
Rainfall and Thunderstorms Recorded Across Bihar
In the last 24 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in several districts, including Shivhar, Araria, Nalanda, Kishanganj, Buxar, Purnia, and East Champaran. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in Shivhar, which received 132.4 mm. Patna district’s Daniyawan recorded 35.6 mm.

Temperatures Rise Slightly Despite Rain
Despite the rains, maximum temperatures increased in most parts of the state, excluding Sasaram, Banka, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Munger, Araria, Forbesganj, and Kishanganj. In Patna, the maximum temperature rose by 2.6 degrees Celsius to reach 34.8°C, while Gopalganj recorded the highest maximum temperature at 37.2°C.
