Gayaji: A shocking incident took place in Jamuawan village of Gayaji district, Bihar, where a woman attacked her own 15-month-old son with a knife. The child, named Harshveer, had followed his mother to the kitchen when she suddenly stabbed him on the neck with a kitchen knife. Soon after the attack, people in the house heard his loud cries and rushed to see what had happened. The child was bleeding heavily and was immediately taken to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital in Gayaji.
Doctors at the hospital said that the boy’s condition is very serious. They have referred him to Patna for better treatment as he needs urgent medical care. The child’s father, Nishant Kumar, said that he had only asked his wife Julie Kumari to make tea in the evening. As she went to the kitchen, their son followed her, and suddenly she attacked him. The family is in shock after this incident and neighbours are deeply disturbed.
Nishant Kumar told reporters that his wife has mental health problems. He said her family did not tell them about her illness before marriage two and a half years ago. After marriage, she often left the house without informing anyone. Later, the family came to know that she was mentally unstable. He said he never thought she could harm their child in such a terrible way.
Police have taken Julie Kumari into custody. SDPO Sunil Kumar Pandey said they are gathering more information about the incident. So far, no formal complaint has been filed by the victim’s family as they are busy getting treatment for their child in Patna. The entire village is shocked that a mother could harm her own baby in this way.
