Muzaffarpur: A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition following an alleged rape in Muzaffarpur, prompting a police investigation and the detention of three women suspected of involvement.
The incident took place in the Mithanpura police station area, where, according to police and the victim’s family, the girl was allegedly lured away from her home by women known to her. She was then taken to a rented house, where the assault is believed to have occurred.
The victim was later admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), where her condition remains critical. Her father said her health had deteriorated severely and called for justice.
Police said three women from the neighbourhood have been detained for questioning. Investigators allege that the women took the girl to the rented accommodation, where a man present at the location carried out the assault. The main accused is currently absconding.
Authorities have collected evidence from the scene, and a forensic team has gathered samples as part of the investigation. The room where the incident allegedly occurred has been sealed to preserve evidence.
According to preliminary accounts, the accused women allegedly attempted to manage the situation when the girl’s condition worsened, including giving her medication. They are then said to have fled the scene.
Family members informed the police after discovering the incident. The girl was initially given first aid before being referred to SKMCH for further treatment.
Media reports have suggested the possibility of multiple perpetrators, though officials said this has not yet been confirmed and remains under investigation.
A senior police officer said that a detailed inquiry is under way and that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the main accused. Authorities added that all aspects of the case are being examined and that those responsible would face legal action.
