Muzaffarpur/Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Sunday announced a series of development initiatives for Muzaffarpur and north Bihar, including progress on airport projects, the establishment of a new university, and infrastructure schemes worth around Rs 1,047 crore.
Addressing a public gathering at the MIT campus in Muzaffarpur, the Chief Minister said the district had received 982 development projects, describing them as part of the state’s efforts to strengthen connectivity, higher education and urban development.
Patahi Airport Project To Move Forward
One of the key announcements concerned air connectivity for north Bihar.
Samrat Choudhary said the process to operationalise Patahi Airport in Muzaffarpur and Raxaul Airport had advanced significantly.
He added that the foundation stone for the development of Patahi Airport would be laid within the next 10 days, after which work would proceed towards the commencement of flight operations.
New University Planned At MIT Campus
The Chief Minister also announced that an Architecture and Civil Engineering University would be established within the MIT campus in Muzaffarpur.
According to him, the proposed institution is expected to expand higher education opportunities and create new avenues for employment and skill development for young people in the region.

New Townships Under Development
Referring to Bihar’s urban development plans, Samrat Choudhary said work on developing new townships in 12 cities across the state was progressing rapidly.
He said the initiative aims to support planned urban expansion and improve infrastructure to meet future population and economic needs.
Focus On Religious Tourism
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s plans to strengthen religious tourism.
Drawing a comparison with the economic and tourism impact of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said Bihar was pursuing similar initiatives to attract visitors.
He referred to the foundation stone laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar for a grand temple dedicated to Goddess Sita, saying the project has the potential to emerge as a major pilgrimage and tourism destination.
Development Projects Worth Rs 1,047 Crore
The Chief Minister said the package of 982 development projects, valued at approximately Rs 1,047 crore, is intended to accelerate infrastructure development in Muzaffarpur and strengthen the wider economy of north Bihar.
He said the projects are expected to improve public infrastructure while supporting employment generation and regional development.
