Muzaffarpur/Patna: The Muzaffarpur Police have launched a Senior Citizen Registration Drive and established a dedicated Senior Citizen Cell to strengthen the safety and emergency assistance available to residents aged 60 years and above.
Under the initiative, police will maintain a secure database containing senior citizens’ names, addresses, emergency contact details, blood groups and relevant medical information. The database is intended to help police provide faster assistance, particularly to elderly residents who live alone or may require emergency support.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kantesh Mishra met senior citizens at City Park on Monday and discussed issues related to their safety and security.
How Senior Citizens Can Register
Residents aged 60 years and above can register through their local police station or beat police officer by submitting the prescribed form.
The police are also providing an online registration facility, including a registration link and QR code, to make the process more accessible.
Police have appealed to eligible senior citizens to register so that essential information can be accessed quickly during an emergency.
For urgent assistance, senior citizens can contact their local police station, Muzaffarpur Police Control Room or Dial-112.
Neighbourhood Support System Launched
Alongside the senior citizen initiative, Muzaffarpur Police have launched a ‘Neighbourhood Support System’ to strengthen community vigilance against crimes such as theft, snatching, housebreaking, burglary and robbery.
Residents have been advised to inform a trusted neighbour before leaving their homes, particularly when travelling outside the city. Neighbours can then monitor the property and alert police if they notice suspicious activity.

Police have also advised residents to:
- Install outdoor CCTV cameras covering the house entrance and the surrounding road or area.
- Keep outdoor lights switched on at night.
- Get domestic workers, employees and tenants police-verified before employing them or renting out property.
- Maintain copies of their valid identification documents.
- Immediately report suspicious persons, vehicles without number plates or suspected surveillance of houses.
Residents have been urged not to ignore unusual activity in their neighbourhoods and to inform the local police or Dial-112 whenever necessary.
The two initiatives are aimed at improving police access to vulnerable senior citizens while strengthening neighbourhood-level vigilance through greater cooperation between the police and the public.
