Muzaffarpur: A 22-year-old BA student was brutally murdered in Muzaffarpur district after assailants broke into her rented home in Bahbal Bazaar, Meenapur, late on Monday night and slit her throat.
The victim, identified as Tannu Kumari, a third-year undergraduate student and resident of Dolma village in East Champaran, was asleep when the attackers forced their way inside. Her mother, Pratibha Devi, was injured while trying to protect her.
According to Rural Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Singh Prabhakar, the motive for the killing remains unclear. An FIR has been registered against three unidentified persons. “The criminals broke the window glass, entered the house and attacked the student, who died on the spot,” he said.
Police said the window of the house did not have a grill, making entry easier. Forensic teams collected evidence, while Meenapur police sent the body for post-mortem at SKMC.
The victim’s mother told police that two thin men entered the room, while a third accomplice stood outside. Her father, Bharat Prasad, lives in Dolma village, while her maternal grandparents are based in Mustafapur, Kanti.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and identify the attackers.
