Gaya: Magadh Zone Inspector General of Police Vikas Vaibhav has ordered a crackdown on illegal sand mining networks after a police team was attacked in Nardiganj area of Nawada district.
Vaibhav visited the site of the incident, where members of an alleged sand mining mafia had assaulted police personnel during enforcement action. Taking “serious note” of the attack, he directed senior officers to initiate strict action against those involved in illegal mining as well as individuals responsible for obstructing official duties and targeting law enforcement.

The Inspector General said that anyone challenging law and order or interfering with police operations would face firm legal consequences. He further instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the wider network behind illegal sand mining in the region.
This probe, he said, should extend beyond those directly involved in extraction activities to include the financial structures supporting the trade and any individuals or groups providing patronage or protection.
Vaibhav has also ordered the launch of special operations aimed at curbing illegal mining activities in the area. Police presence and surveillance, he added, must be strengthened to ensure continuous monitoring and prevent further incidents.
