Patna: Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) is on track to complete several major infrastructure projects by 2025, as outlined in a recent review meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Road Construction Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. Officials of BRPNNL, responsible for overseeing these projects, presented a detailed progress report during the meeting.
Among the key projects targeted for completion by 2025 are a double-decker flyover from Gandhi Chowk to Nagarpalika Chowk in Chhapra, and a 2-lane elevated double-decker flyover from Kargil Chowk, Gandhi Maidan to Science College via PMCH and Ashok Rajpath in Patna.
Deputy Chief Minister Sinha issued firm directives to the engineers of the BRPNNL to address delays in ongoing projects, demanding immediate reports detailing the causes of any setbacks. He emphasized the importance of timely completion while maintaining high standards of work quality.
Sinha also highlighted the challenges posed by the monsoon season, which has led to unexpected rises in river water levels. He instructed departmental officials to prioritize the maintenance of existing bridges. Superintending Engineers across various zones have been tasked with conducting on-site inspections of bridges within their jurisdiction and submitting reports within three days to ensure swift action can be taken where necessary.
The Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged that land acquisition and the clearance of forest areas remain significant obstacles in the construction of roads and bridges. He announced plans for an upcoming meeting with relevant ministers and department officials to resolve these issues and expedite project progress.
The corporation, established in 1975, had faced severe financial difficulties before 2004-05, operating at a loss of Rs 17 crore and facing potential closure. However, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the corporation has seen a remarkable turnaround, now contributing Rs 205 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund—a record contribution from any government agency in the state.
