Nine From Bihar Among 18 Killed in New Delhi Railway Station Stampede

New Delhi/ Patna: A stampede at New Delhi Railway Station late on Saturday night claimed the lives of 18 people, including nine from Bihar, as thousands of devotees gathered to board trains to Prayagraj Mahakumbh. Several others were injured in the incident, which occurred on platforms 13 and 14.

Among the deceased, nine were from Bihar, eight from Delhi, and one from Haryana. The victims included nine women, four men, and five children. Authorities have launched a high-level inquiry into the tragedy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “I am saddened by the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station. My condolences are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. Officials are assisting all those affected.”

The railway ministry has assured support to the injured and the families of the deceased, as investigations continue into the cause of the stampede.
