Patna: CM Nitish Kumar marked his 75th birthday on Saturday, receiving greetings from across the political spectrum, including a public message from prime minister Narendra Modi, who described him as a leader synonymous with vision and development.

Posting on social media platform X, Modi praised Kumar’s long tenure in public life and his contribution to Bihar’s growth. “Heartfelt birthday greetings to Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar ji. He has worked continuously for the progress of Bihar over the past several years. His foresight and development-oriented policies have positively impacted countless lives. I pray for his long and healthy life,” the prime minister wrote.
The message, while celebratory in tone, is being viewed by political observers as carrying broader significance. Modi’s emphasis on “foresight” and “continuous work” was interpreted as an endorsement of the development narrative advanced by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Bihar, under which Kumar currently governs.
Across Bihar, particularly in Patna, workers of the Janata Dal (United) organised small events and put up posters hailing Kumar as the “architect of modern Bihar”. Party leaders said the prime minister’s remarks reflected the strength of coordination within the alliance and reaffirmed a shared commitment to infrastructure, welfare schemes and governance reforms in the state.
Kumar, one of India’s longest-serving chief ministers, has played a pivotal role in Bihar’s coalition politics over the past two decades.
