Patna: Meeting RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav, currently held in Bhagalpur’s high-security central jail, has become extremely difficult under a new set of stringent visitor protocols implemented by prison authorities.
The incarcerated legislator, accused of extorting a Patna-based builder, has been moved to an ultra-secure wing of the facility where new measures require prior online registration, Aadhaar verification, and a one-week approval window for all visitors.
Jail officials said the rules are designed to ensure maximum security and transparency. All meetings with Yadav must now be pre-approved digitally, with visitors required to provide full identity and relationship details. Every visit will be monitored under CCTV surveillance, and visitors must undergo thorough frisking before entry.
Ritlal Yadav, who surrendered before a Patna court on April 17, following an extortion allegation, was initially sent to Beur Jail. But concerns over potential disruption led to his transfer to Bhagalpur’s Special Central Jail on May 1, under orders from the prison inspector general.
He is now housed in a T-cell zone—typically reserved for high-risk inmates such as extremists and notorious criminals. This area is guarded through a three-tier security system, with BMP personnel, scanners, metal detectors, and restricted access even for jail staff.
