Patna: The NTPC Barh project has emerged as the company’s second-largest power station after recording its highest-ever annual electricity generation during the financial year 2025-26.
The achievement was announced during a media interaction programme held at the project premises on Monday, May 18, where Project Head C. Satya Ramakrishna addressed media representatives.
He informed that the total installed capacity of the NTPC Barh power station stands at 3,300 MW, comprising five units of 660 MW each. With the commencement of commercial operations of Unit-3 under Stage-I, the project has now become one of NTPC’s largest operational power stations.
According to NTPC officials, the station generated a record 17,574 million units of electricity during FY 2025-26, marking the highest annual power generation in the history of the Barh project.
Record Daily and Monthly Power Generation
The station also achieved a record single-day power generation of 75.38 million units on December 30, 2025, while registering a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 95.18 percent.
In March 2026, the project recorded its highest-ever monthly electricity generation at 2,045 million units.
Focus on Green Energy and Battery Storage
As part of its green and environmentally sustainable energy initiatives, NTPC Barh is setting up solar energy projects with a combined capacity of 3,150 kilowatts. Of this, work on 2,450 kilowatts capacity has already been completed.
The company is also rapidly progressing on a 400 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project aimed at strengthening energy management and grid stability.
CSR Initiatives in Nearby Areas
Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, NTPC has been running several welfare programmes in nearby regions, including campaigns for girl child empowerment, Utkarsh merit scholarships, and mobile medical van services.
During the interaction, journalists and NTPC officials held discussions on various technical and social aspects related to the project. The NTPC management also thanked media representatives for their continued support and cooperation.
