Begusarai/Bhagalpur: Senior officials from Bihar’s sports department conducted an inspection of sports infrastructure in Begusarai and Bhagalpur on Tuesday in preparation for the Khelo India Youth Games 2025. The delegation included Additional Chief Secretary of the Department of Sports and General Administration, Dr. B. Rajendra, Director General of Bihar State Sports Authority, Ravindran Shankaran, and Director of Sports, Mahendra Kumar.
The officials met with district authorities and sports officials to review the progress of ongoing construction at key venues. In Begusarai, they visited the Yamuna Bhagat Stadium in Teghra and the Refinery Stadium in Barauni, accompanied by District Magistrate Tushar Singla and other senior officials. They emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and ensuring timely completion of projects.
“The infrastructure being developed for the Khelo India Youth Games will provide a vital opportunity for Bihar’s athletes to compete on the national stage,” the officials said. They stressed that all construction work must adhere to high standards and be completed within the stipulated timeframe to allow Bihar to showcase itself proudly at the upcoming games.
Bihar is set to host the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 across five districts—Patna, Rajgir (Nalanda), Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Begusarai. Football matches are scheduled to take place in Begusarai, while Bhagalpur will host badminton events. Preparations for the football competition in Begusarai are in full swing, with officials conducting a detailed review of arrangements related to accommodation, food, security, law and order, and sports infrastructure. The stadiums in Begusarai are also being upgraded to meet national competition standards.
Following the successful hosting of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in Rajgir, Bihar is now gearing up for another major sporting event. The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 are expected to provide a crucial platform for young athletes to develop their skills and compete at a higher level, further strengthening Bihar’s presence in Indian sports. The state’s sports department, in collaboration with local authorities, is actively working to ensure the success of the event.
