Patna: India has placed the Bihar-Nepal border under high alert following its pre-dawn airstrikes in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine suspected terror camps. The heightened vigilance comes in the wake of retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which reportedly left 90 terrorists dead, according to official sources.
In border districts like Valmikinagar, Raxaul, Supaul, and Kishanganj, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has ramped up its presence, with officers conducting round-the-clock patrols and surveillance. All incoming and outgoing individuals are being thoroughly checked, and identification—such as Aadhaar or official ID—is now mandatory for border crossings.
“Security is tighter than ever. The border is under constant watch and no suspicious activity will go unnoticed,” said Nandan Singh Nehra, Commandant of the 65th Battalion. He added that special units have been deployed in plain clothes to monitor sensitive areas, particularly forest routes and river passages commonly used for illegal crossings.
Smart surveillance systems have also been installed at checkpoints like Gandak Barrage to track and intercept any suspicious movement. Border guards are maintaining a detailed register of all cross-border traffic, and enhanced checks are in place to prevent any infiltration or smuggling activities.
The move is seen as a preventive national security measure following India’s declaration that it had targeted infrastructure linked to terrorist groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen in the strikes. While no Pakistani military sites were attacked, Indian officials framed the operation as an act of legitimate self-defence.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has accused India of bombing civilian areas and places of worship—allegations New Delhi denies. Defence Minister statements suggested Islamabad is now on the diplomatic backfoot, urging international forums for intervention.
India’s internal security posture, especially in border states, has since been significantly tightened, signalling a zero-tolerance stance on cross-border terror and a wider national alert.
