Purnia: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi is set to hold a major election rally today in Purnia’s Kasba Assembly constituency as part of his party’s intensive campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.
The public meeting will take place at the Garhbaneli High School grounds in Kasba, where preparations have been completed. Owaisi will appeal to voters in support of AIMIM candidate Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam from the Kasba Assembly seat. He will also campaign for AIMIM’s Baisi Assembly candidate, Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam.
Authorities have made tight security arrangements for Owaisi’s rally, deploying a heavy police force and magistrates to maintain order. Traffic diversions have been planned to prevent congestion on routes leading to the venue.
AIMIM Projects Itself as Voice of the Marginalized
Party leaders said AIMIM, under Owaisi’s leadership, is fighting for justice, equality, and representation of the poor, farmers, laborers, and youth. They expressed confidence that the people of Kasba will vote for change this time, giving a strong message to both the ruling alliance and the opposition.
Kasba — A Crucial and Competitive Constituency
The Kasba Assembly constituency, considered one of the most closely watched in Purnia district, has a diverse voter base comprising about 60% Hindu and 40% Muslim voters. This demographic balance often plays a decisive role in shaping electoral outcomes.
The constituency is witnessing a four-cornered contest. The NDA’s LJP(R) has fielded Nitesh Kumar Singh, while the Congress has nominated Mohammed Irfan Alam under the Grand Alliance. Sitting MLA Mohammed Afaq Alam, formerly of Congress, is contesting as an independent candidate. Former MLA Pradeep Das has also entered the fray as an independent. AIMIM has nominated Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam.
