Purnia: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi is set to hold a major election rally today in Purnia’s Kasba Assembly constituency as part of his party’s intensive campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The public meeting will take place at the Garhbaneli High School grounds in Kasba, where preparations have been completed. Owaisi will appeal to voters in support of AIMIM candidate Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam from the Kasba Assembly seat. He will also campaign for AIMIM’s Baisi Assembly candidate, Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam.

Authorities have made tight security arrangements for Owaisi’s rally, deploying a heavy police force and magistrates to maintain order. Traffic diversions have been planned to prevent congestion on routes leading to the venue.

AIMIM Projects Itself as Voice of the Marginalized

Party leaders said AIMIM, under Owaisi’s leadership, is fighting for justice, equality, and representation of the poor, farmers, laborers, and youth. They expressed confidence that the people of Kasba will vote for change this time, giving a strong message to both the ruling alliance and the opposition.

Kasba — A Crucial and Competitive Constituency

The Kasba Assembly constituency, considered one of the most closely watched in Purnia district, has a diverse voter base comprising about 60% Hindu and 40% Muslim voters. This demographic balance often plays a decisive role in shaping electoral outcomes.

The constituency is witnessing a four-cornered contest. The NDA’s LJP(R) has fielded Nitesh Kumar Singh, while the Congress has nominated Mohammed Irfan Alam under the Grand Alliance. Sitting MLA Mohammed Afaq Alam, formerly of Congress, is contesting as an independent candidate. Former MLA Pradeep Das has also entered the fray as an independent. AIMIM has nominated Mohammad Shahnawaz Alam.

A total of 12 candidates are contesting from the Kasba Assembly constituency:

Candidate Name Party
Nitesh Kumar Singh LJP(R)
Mohammed Afaq Alam Independent
Mohammed Irfan Congress
Kanhaiya Lal Mandal PPID
Mohammed Muzammil Majhari SDPI
Mohammed Ittefaq Alam Jan Suraaj
Bhanu Bharatiya AAP
Pradeep Das Independent
Sanoz Chauhan BSP
Rajendra Yadav Independent
Subodh Rishi Dev Independent
Hayat Asraf Independent
Mohammed Shahnawaz Alam AIMIM

With multiple strong candidates and a divided vote base, the Kasba seat is expected to witness a tight contest. Owaisi’s rally today is likely to energize AIMIM’s campaign and test its growing influence in Seemanchal politics.
