Patna: Independent MP from Bihar’s Purnia constituency, Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, is once again in the spotlight for his unconventional political style after singing Bhojpuri song lines during a press conference while launching a sharp attack on social and political issues.
During the media interaction, Pappu Yadav hummed lines from popular Bhojpuri songs and used them to question what he described as the growing obscenity in regional music and its impact on society.
He referred to lyrics such as “Chunri ke peeche kya hai”, “Choli ke andar kya hai”, “Missed call mara taru” and “Mukhiya ji”, saying such songs were influencing the thinking of young people and sending the wrong message about women.
The MP said the issue was no longer only about entertainment, but reflected a wider social decline that needed urgent attention.
He also raised concern over increasing crimes against women across the country, saying the safety of women had become one of the biggest challenges facing society today.
Pappu Yadav alleged that influential individuals often misuse power and status to exploit women, while delays in justice further embolden offenders.
Calling for swift punishment in rape cases, he said those found guilty should face the harshest penalties within 48 hours, arguing that lengthy legal delays weaken deterrence.
The MP also demanded strict action within political parties, saying any leader or worker accused in sexual harassment or assault cases should immediately lose party membership and be barred from contesting elections.
In a sarcastic remark, he also questioned why some individuals facing serious allegations continue to receive Z and Y category security protection.
He said it was deeply troubling when those under scrutiny were given state-backed security while victims continued to wait for justice.
The statement, along with his theatrical singing style, quickly went viral on social media, drawing mixed reactions from supporters and critics alike.
