Pappu Yadav offers support to Salman Khan amid Lawrence Bishnoi threats
Mumbai: Purnia MP Pappu Yadav has extended his support to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, who has been facing threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Yadav, who was in Mumbai recently, revealed on social media that while he couldn’t meet Khan in person due to scheduling conflicts, the two had a lengthy phone conversation. Yadav assured the actor of his full support, stating, “I am with him in every situation.”
Yadav has been vocal about the Bishnoi gang since the murder of former MLA Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai on October 12, for which the gang claimed responsibility. Following Siddiqui’s death, Yadav challenged the gang on social media, threatening to dismantle their network within 24 hours if the law permitted.
On Thursday night, Yadav visited Mumbai to meet Siddiqui’s son but was unable to meet Khan as planned. Nonetheless, during their phone call, Yadav reiterated his stance against the gang, assuring Khan of his backing amidst the ongoing threats.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on October 13, Yadav referred to Lawrence Bishnoi and his associates as “two-penny goons” and expressed his frustration with the current state of law enforcement. “If the law allows, I will finish off the entire network of this two-penny criminal like Lawrence Bishnoi in 24 hours,” he wrote. Yadav also criticised the broader situation, questioning how a jailed criminal could continue to orchestrate murders, including that of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and now Siddiqui.
However, Yadav’s aggressive stance on eliminating the Bishnoi gang has faced scrutiny. During a recent press conference in Patna, he appeared to backtrack slightly when asked about his previous comments. Frustrated by the questions, he announced his intent to travel to Mumbai and “show everyone their place.”
On social media, Yadav remained defiant. “I am coming to Mumbai, I will tell everyone their place,” he wrote. He also criticised the media for focusing on criminals while ignoring pressing issues in Bihar, such as the deaths caused by poisonous liquor and the devastation from floods. “If the media is silent on these issues, why shouldn’t I speak out against criminals?” Yadav said, continuing to promise action against the Bishnoi gang.
As threats against Salman Khan persist, Yadav’s vocal support adds another layer to the unfolding situation between the actor and the gang, which has been responsible for several high-profile killings.
