Patna/Lucknow: A passenger on an Indigo flight from Patna to Delhi died mid-air on Saturday, prompting an emergency landing in Lucknow. The deceased, identified as Satish Chandra Burman, a resident of Nalbari, Assam, was traveling with his wife, Kanchan, and cousin-in-law, Keshav Kumar, when he suddenly fell ill.

Indigo flight 6E 2163 was passing over Lucknow around 10 am when the crew noticed Burman’s deteriorating condition and alerted the pilot. Seeking immediate medical intervention, the pilot requested an emergency landing at Lucknow airport, which was promptly approved by Air Traffic Control.

Upon landing, the airport medical team examined Burman and declared him dead. Local police from Sarojini Nagar were notified, and the body was sent to King George’s Medical University (KGMU) for postmortem examination.

The deceased’s family has since reached the medical college, while authorities await the postmortem report to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile, airport administration and police officials are reviewing CCTV footage from the terminal as part of the investigation.

Officials stated that further clarity on the incident would emerge once medical reports and security footage are examined.
