Gayaji: There was chaos on the Anand Vihar-Bhubaneshwar Duronto Express when passengers found out that their belongings had been stolen late at night. The theft happened around 1:05 am on Friday between Kastha and Paraiya stations in the DDU-Gayaji railway section.
The incident took place in coaches B1, B2, and S4. According to Rafiganj RPF Inspector Ram Sumer, four to five passengers complained about the theft through Rail Madad Seva. It is believed that two to four thieves stopped the train by pulling the emergency chain and ran away after stealing luggage.
Angry passengers stopped the train for about 40 minutes and created a ruckus. The train started moving again around 2 am, running late because of the incident. When it reached Gayaji Junction, GRP Gayaji Circle Inspector Sushil Kumar Singh and his team attended to the complaints.
Sub Inspector Lakshmi Devi from Gayaji GRP was sent onboard to talk to passengers and collect details about the theft. Police said an investigation is going on to catch the thieves and improve security on trains during the night.
