Patna: A shocking incident unfolded at Paras Hospital in Patna on Thursday, where a patient admitted for treatment was shot dead by criminals who brazenly entered the facility. The hospital, located in the busy Raja Bazar area, witnessed a sudden stir following the daylight attack. Upon receiving information, Shastri Nagar police immediately rushed to the scene and commenced an investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Chandan Mishra, a resident of Buxar. Mishra was reportedly at Paras Hospital on parole from Beur Jail, seeking medical treatment. According to preliminary reports, four criminals gained entry into the hospital premises and opened fire on him.
Victim’s Background and Parole Details
Chandan Mishra was serving a life imprisonment sentence in a murder case, specifically accused in the killing of a person named Kesari in Buxar. He had been incarcerated for the past 12 years, having been transferred between Buxar, Bhagalpur, and currently Beur Jail in Patna.
It is understood that Mishra had been granted a 15-day parole, which was set to expire on July 18, the day he was due to return to Beur Jail. His deteriorating health during this period led to his admission and ongoing treatment at Paras Hospital in Patna.
Police Launch Probe into Hospital Infiltration
The audacious nature of the crime, occurring inside a hospital, has raised serious concerns about security. Police officials from Shastri Nagar are now working to ascertain how the assailants managed to enter the hospital undetected and carry out the shooting.
