Patna: The Bihar government has accelerated preparations for the proposed Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township, a large planned urban development near Patna that will combine residential areas with educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets, industries, public services and transport infrastructure.
According to the detailed action plan prepared by the Urban Development and Housing Department, the township will spread across 81,654.12 acres and be divided into 130 sectors. The plan aims to accommodate a population of 10 lakh people by 2037.
The largest share of land, 28,723.95 acres, has been earmarked for residential development. Another 17,616.13 acres will be used for urban agriculture, while 8,652.03 acres has been allocated for commercial activities and 4,651.67 acres for industrial development.
Healthcare Infrastructure
The township’s healthcare network has been planned around the projected population of 10 lakh.
The blueprint provides for 66 primary health centres, 10 polyclinics, four general hospitals and 10 veterinary hospitals.
The planned facilities are intended to provide healthcare access within the new urban area as its population grows.
Schools, Colleges And University
The township will also have a large network of educational institutions.
The plan includes 400 pre-primary schools, 200 primary schools and 130 secondary or senior secondary schools. It also proposes eight colleges and one university.
The distribution of institutions across the proposed sectors is intended to support the township’s projected population and reduce dependence on existing educational infrastructure in Patna.
Police Stations And Fire Services
The blueprint also includes dedicated infrastructure for law enforcement and emergency services.
The township will have 11 police stations and 22 police posts, along with a battalion headquarters. Five fire stations are also planned to strengthen emergency response services.
Metro Connectivity Planned
Public transport has been included in the township’s long-term development plan, with a proposal to extend metro connectivity to the area.
Separate land has also been earmarked for transport and communication infrastructure as part of the planned urban network.
Community And Cultural Facilities
The proposed township will include facilities aimed at supporting community, recreational and cultural activities.
The plan provides for 1,320 community rooms, 66 community halls, 10 clubs, 10 music, dance and drama centres, 10 meditation centres and two socio-cultural centres.
With residential, institutional, commercial and industrial areas planned together, the Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township is being designed as an integrated urban area rather than a standalone housing development.
