Patna: Patliputra University will begin its undergraduate admissions for the academic session 2025-2029 from May 25, opening enrolment for over 1.2 lakh seats across affiliated colleges. The university’s administration has confirmed that applications will be accepted until June 30.
The new intake marks the second cohort under the restructured four-year Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS), in line with national education reforms. The Vice-Chancellor has affirmed that all academic activities — from admissions to examinations — will proceed as per the revised academic calendar, which has already received approval from Raj Bhavan and the state government.
Strict adherence to academic timelines
The university is seeking to maintain a rigorous academic schedule, aiming to prevent delays that have long plagued Bihar’s higher education institutions. As per the calendar, classes for the incoming first-semester undergraduate students will commence on July 4 and run through November 22. Examinations for this cohort are scheduled to begin on December 1.
Meanwhile, students of the 2024-2028 session are also on a tightly coordinated academic track. Their second-semester classes will conclude on April 30, with examinations slated for June 2. Third-semester classes will run from July 1 to November 2, with exams beginning in December.
Focus on timely examinations
“This is part of our commitment to restoring credibility to the academic process,” a university official said. “The Vice-Chancellor has set clear targets to ensure that no session lags behind. We are determined to uphold these timelines for the benefit of students.”
The university’s shift to a structured calendar and the implementation of the four-year CBCS model are being viewed as major steps in aligning with national education standards. With a focus on punctuality and system transparency, the administration is hopeful of setting a new precedent for academic discipline in the region.
