Patna: A woman passenger travelling on a SpiceJet flight from Patna to Mumbai died on Sunday evening after collapsing inside the airport’s security area, officials said.
According to Chandra Pratap Dwivedi, director of Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport, the incident occurred at around 4.40pm when the passenger, booked on SpiceJet flight SG-337, fainted near the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) shift-in-charge cubicle at the security hold area.
A doctor present nearby was immediately called, and first aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), was administered on the spot. The airport fire service was alerted soon after, and an ambulance reached the location at about 4.50pm.
The passenger was rushed to Paras Hospital, where she was admitted for treatment. However, she could not be revived and was declared dead at the hospital at 5.13pm, the airport director said.
Airport authorities said all emergency protocols were followed promptly, with medical assistance provided within minutes of the passenger collapsing. Further details about the passenger’s identity and the cause of death were not immediately disclosed.
