Patna: A cash collection agent was robbed of Rs 20 lakh near Alpana Market in Patna on Monday, in a brazen daylight attack that has raised fresh concerns over urban security.
The incident occurred in the Patliputra Police Station area when the agent, employed by Radiant Cash Management Company, was transporting funds from the Sai Mandir area to the Central Bank of India. Masked men on motorcycles confronted him, with one blocking his path and another brandishing a pistol. The criminals snatched the bag of cash and fled towards Boring Road in a matter of seconds, leaving bystanders in shock.
Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the robbery and have launched an investigation. Local residents are being questioned, and CCTV footage along the route from Alpana Market to Boring Road is under review by the District Intelligence Unit (DIU) to identify the suspects.
Authorities have assured the public that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon. Meanwhile, residents in the area have expressed unease, with the incident highlighting persistent security challenges in Patna’s city streets.
