Patna: The body of a missing bank manager was recovered from a well in the Beur area of Patna, prompting allegations of foul play from the victim’s family.
Abhishek Varun, a branch manager at ICICI Lombard and a resident of Kankarbagh, had been missing since Sunday night under mysterious circumstances. Police said his body was discovered after his slippers were first found near the well, raising suspicions that led to a further search.
According to police, Varun had attended a family function on Sunday evening and left with his wife and children on a scooter. After the event, he reportedly sent his family home and told them he would visit a friend. Later that night, he called his wife to infBeurorm her he had met with an accident. The call was abruptly cut off, and his phone was subsequently switched off. Concerned for his safety, the family lodged a missing person complaint with Kankarbagh police.
Patna Sadar-1 Deputy Superintendent of Police, Abhinav, said Varun was last traced heading towards the Beur area. “We are using technical surveillance and questioning acquaintances to gather more details. At present, the death is being treated as suspicious,” he said.
The incident has caused a stir in the local community. While police are investigating the case from multiple angles, Varun’s family has alleged that he was murdered and has demanded a thorough probe.
